Box still-life WIP

Description

This is the beginning (and perpetual end in the eyes of my Drawing II final grade) of my box still-life assignment, which is supposed to be my final project for the class. The idea is to put together a box that represents the artist in some way. My box kinda sucks (at least in comparison to how awesome certain other people’s were), but I like the direction that the drawing is going.

I plan on finishing this even though I won’t be graded on it anymore. There’s supposed to be two drawings: a ‘‘nighttime’’ one and a ‘‘daytime’’ one. The daytime drawing (which is this one) is supposed to be done in class whereas the nighttime drawing is a homework assignment. I kinda never started the nighttime drawing :x. I have the worst time trying to motivate myself when I am at home. (In school, however, I can work the hours away without so much as even a five minute break.) I kinda need to learn how to combat that.

My box still-life is sort of an inside joke with myself. I’ve been a bit obsessed with my best friend (Angelina) lately, and traces of her keep appearing in my artwork, which is not always intentional. My box still-life is meant to mock that. As you probably already assume by reading this, yes, the picture in the center-top of the box is of her. It’s all set up to be like a faux mini-shrine. The little toy Mini Coop is there only to serve as a very bad visual pun: faux mini-shrine . . . Mini Cooper . . . ha. Yeah. :|

Prismacolor pencil on toned paper
. . . I kinda lost track of the time.

wow, that is great. to see how the whole thing came together, step by step, very interesting.

although i do have to say that the drawings aare wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy killer (grand, great, awesome) compared to the real thing. Maybe i only feel that way because i would rather be living in a drawing or painting opposed to real life. hah. nayways, great job!
